Wealth Principles and Yard Sales

(Quick Start at Any Level)

Hi, welcome to “Wealth Principles and Yard Sales”. In this article you’ll find a number of tips that, in frank honesty, only work if you do them. It is my hope that this does not become one of those “shelf help” books, but a powerful tool to put you on a sure course to where you really want to go.

Be sure to take note of my recommendations at the end. This is a journey – a process – and I hope to provide you with everything you need along the way to help your family members reach their highest potential. This means that whether or not I am the one who ultimately provides the resources you’ll need along the way, I hope to be the bridge to take you to the next step.

Ready to get started? Here we go:

The Laws of Success

To introduce you to the “laws” or “principles” of success, you’ll want to read “Hidden Treasures: Heaven’s Astonishing Help with Your Money Matters”. This article takes a deeper look at one of the last concepts discussed in the book, the Vacuum Law of Prosperity, which states that nature abhors a vacuum, so it’s important to make space for what you seek. This means letting go of things that are not part of the vision you have for your life.

Is applying the Vacuum Law an act of faith? Oh, yes it is. After all, what if the way doesn’t present itself for the replacement carpet or new couch you need? This is when you practice believing anyway. Trust the laws and do your part. Your part is to believe and look for the way. Will your faith be strengthened when you practice having some? Most definitely. Like a muscle your faith is strengthened by exercising it. Our carpet experience gave us the courage to have faith in bigger dreams, which one by one, continue to come true. I am never surprised when they do, but always amazed.

We live in daily gratitude for the God-given blessings of abundance: the things that money can buy and the things that money can’t buy. Above all, these principles have brought peace, and how can anyone put a price on peace? Live by the laws and you will live in peace.

Wealth Principles and Yard Sales

Did you know that truly wealthy individuals have a certain mindset about yard sales, and that if we can adopt the same attitude, it can put us in a position to begin receiving greater wealth? (I’m talking about real wealth, the monetary kind AND non-monetary prosperity.)

Whether or not you believe in God, I think it is agreeable that there is One Source from which all things proceed. Scientists start with the fundamental principle that ‘Energy Is’, and that all things are simply a manifestation of the same energy. Theologans begin with the fundamental principle that ‘God just IS.’ Whichever way you want to call it, the key point here is that we have hidden untapped resources within us, that the Universe is prepared to provide us with everything we need in order to develop to our fullest potential. God is ready and willing to send you the help you want so desperately, but this is a lawful Universe, and before all good things can flow into your life, YOU must operate in a lawful way. You must have a mindset which is in harmony with the fundamental (and DEPENDABLE) principles upon which prosperity is based. If you feel that you are not prospering the way you would like, it may be because you have lived in violation of certain principles, of which you have not been aware. That’s good news, because that means that all you may lack is an understanding of the laws of prosperity.

I’d like to give you a brief example. See if the following idea makes sense to you, and if it doesn’t seem like a very simple but powerful idea, one which would be very easy to follow:

Consider this:

All things are created with a specific purpose in mind. That old chair in your garage under the sawdust from your miter box was created for a purpose. If it is not filling the purpose for which it was created, you should let it go. Let it be somewhere where it can fill the purpose of its creation. The jeans from 1987 need to go. They were created to be worn, and somewhere in this world is someone who will use and appreciate them right now. Besides, you don’t feel good in them anyway, and they were created to be appreciated.
You’ll feel better in clothes that fit you as you are, and which will put you in the right mindset to make more effective progress on your health goals. I’d rather have a nearly empty closet of clothes that fit me well, than a closet full of things that make me feel horrible. Nature, or God, will help me fill that vacuum.

When you let that chair go, you are making room for something better to come into your life… you have created a vacuum, and nature always fills a vacuum. You are doing something that the truly wealthly people do. If you sell it for pennies on the dollar at a yard sale, you have your reward. Clean it up, GIVE it away, and you open yourself up to receive MULTIPLE times its value. Test it out. Feel good about operating on principle. Believe that better is coming, because by LAW, it must. Remember: Nature Abhors a Vacuum!

So, make a list of at least 10 things around the house or in your garage or yard that have just been sitting there, serving no purpose. Think of things you have kept “just in case” you’ll ever need it. If you haven’t used it in the last year, write it down. If you have the guts, write it down if you haven’t used it in the last 6 months:
________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________

Now write down at least one thing you desire that you presently do not have… perhaps something that you don’t feel like you can afford:
________________________________________________________

Now, my challenge to you is to take those items on your first list, and give them away. Let them go! Create a vacuum! Make room for the things you really want, and let those things that are NOT serving the purpose for which they were created, serve someone else. Then, in time, watch the Universe come through for you. Set a date by which you will have those things out of your life, blessing someone else’s life: ________________________________

Now DO it! Remember, nature abhors a vacuum and will not allow a person to go long without filling that vacuum. Have something specific in mind that YOU want, too, because without a commitment to a goal, you have no say in what the Universe will deliver. Make sure you know what you want, and have it committed to paper. Share your experiences with me by contacting me through the website. Your story can inspire others to improve their life as well.

To your success!

Trick or Treat?

With Halloween nearly upon us, I thought I’d answer the question:

“Is it safe to learn from Leslie Householder?”

In other words, is the information you’ll learn from me a trick to trap you, or is it a treat that can properly liberate you?

“Who would wonder such a thing?” you may ask.

Well, if you must know, an old friend contacted me a couple months ago for the first time in twenty years because she said she saw my name somewhere on a list of people who had gone to the devil. She basically said, “I just HAD to see what you were up to, because you were on this list with a whole bunch of other people who I happen to highly respect!”

Hmmm…

It makes me think of the time when I called the cops on the kid who broke my broom (because I was so stressed about money), and now whenever I share that story, my husband likes to pipe in with,

“Yeah, she lost her mode of transportation that day.”

Thanks honey.

Anyway…

So, people have been critical of what I teach.  They get suspicious when they hear anyone talk about how our thoughts affect our circumstances. Yeah, I know, people will judge.

They probably don’t know that some of the most godly leaders on the planet throughout history have all taught that we should watch our thoughts, and have faith.

But no matter. These people will judge me, they’ll judge you. Just don’t let it stop you from doing what YOU know is right. The important thing is to always stay aligned with your own conscience, and follow it no matter what… discerning between the good fear that keeps you safe, and the deceptive fear that prevents you from finding and living according to the truth you find.

This is life mastery.

If you’re worried about my teachings or trainings, just know this: I have a hyper-sensitive conscience of my own and have wrestled plenty with the concern of learning things that maybe aren’t always taught in Sunday School. Like some of my readers, I used to be concerned about whether these philosophies were of men, only mingled with scripture, or if they were actually true and eternal principles.

On the day that I set aside to seek my answer, studying and praying intently for direction about whether the principles were right and true (or not), among other things, I found additional insight on a plaque posted on the foyer wall of a temple I visited in Los Angeles that reminded me, “[My faith] embraces all truth that is revealed and that is unrevealed, whether religious, political, scientific, or philosophical.” – Brigham Young.

(Not to mention that I was raised to believe that if there is anything virtuous, lovely, or of  good report or praiseworthy, I should seek after these things.)

President Boyd K. Packer shared some insight that was included in the Sunday School manual here. He said,

“There are two kinds of faith. One of them functions ordinarily in the life of every soul. It is the kind of faith born by experience; it gives us certainty that a new day will dawn, that spring will come, that growth will take place. It is the kind of faith that relates us with confidence to that which is scheduled to happen. …

“There is another kind of faith, rare indeed. This is the kind of faith that causes things to happen. It is the kind of faith that is worthy and prepared and unyielding, and it calls forth things that otherwise would not be. It is the kind of faith that moves people. It is the kind of faith that sometimes moves things. …

It comes by gradual growth. It is a marvelous, even a transcendent, power, a power as real and as invisible as electricity. Directed and channeled, it has great effect.” (Quote by Boyd K. Packer © By Intellectual Reserve, Inc., used with permission).

Rare-Kind-of-Faith-47tips

So then, what’s the issue?

People sometimes fear information related to the law of attraction because it dances dangerously close to greed, selfishness, instant gratification, or even witchery.  True principles will always have their counterfeit or misuse.

When people know more about the counterfeit versions than they do the true and correct principles, the resemblance between the two can be enough to make them run the other way.

It’s understandable, and I assert that it is the responsibility of each individual to come to their own conclusion – first by studying it out completely and then asking God if their conclusion is right.

Books Worth reading: As a Man Thinketh, The Science of Getting Rich

For those who will do this, and who will ask for a spiritual confirmation, it will come, bringing them the peace of mind they seek.  If their conclusion is wrong, they’ll be left with a stupor of thought.  They can test it both ways until they have their sure answer.

Now, if you have ever been nervous about learning how to use your thoughts to influence the results in your life, I totally respect that concern. But it’s important to realize that you are already constantly influencing the results in your life by your thoughts – I’m just here to help you do it consciously, so that your results are more in line with how you really want your life to turn out.

However, in spite of all I’ve said, if your conscience ever tells you that you absolutely shouldn’t learn any more from me, then by all means, listen to your conscience and follow it.  Context and timing is everything! You may simply dismiss it politely with respect for this particular person’s point of view.  I just ask that you reserve character judgment until you’ve done your own homework to study it all out in your own mind, and ask God for yourself about the conclusion you come to, rather than blindly taking the word of your neighbor’s great aunt’s brother-in-law or anyone else.

(I’d do the same for you. 😉  )

As for my training events, you will never be asked to do anything out of harmony with good and right principles.  You will never be encouraged to do anything that threatens the family unit.

While you can use the principles to achieve any goal, I would only encourage the pursuit of goals that are in harmony with God’s will, and I’ll teach you to achieve them through means that align with scriptural principles.

NOTE: While I thoroughly enjoy donating time to speak for non-profit organizations whenever circumstances permit, I do not officially represent any one of them, nor are my events or programs officially endorsed by them. If you are interested in having me give a Sunday “Fireside” or speak to your religious organization about applying these principles of faith to strengthen families and/or combat financial bondage, contact me here.

As a Man Thinketh – 07: Serenity

Calmness of mind is one of the beautiful jewels of wisdom. It is the result of long and patient effort in self-control. Its presence is an indication of ripened experience, and of a more than ordinary knowledge of the laws and operations of thought.

A man becomes calm in the measure that he understands himself as a thought-evolved being, for such knowledge necessitates the understanding of others as the result of thought. As he develops a right understanding, and sees more and more clearly the internal relations of things by the action of cause and effect, he ceases to fuss and fume and worry and grieve, and remains poised, steadfast, serene.

The calm man, having learned how to govern himself, knows how to adapt himself to others; and they, in turn, reverence his spiritual strength, and feel that they can learn of him and rely upon him. The more tranquil a man becomes, the greater is his success, his influence, his power for good. Even the ordinary trader will find his business prosperity increase as he develops a greater self-control and equanimity, for people will always prefer to deal with a man whose demeanor is strongly equable.

The strong calm man is always loved and revered. He is like a shade-giving tree in a thirsty land, or a sheltering rock in a storm. Who does not love a tranquil heart, a sweet-tempered, balanced life? It does not matter whether it rains or shines, or what changes come to those possessing these blessings, for they are always sweet, serene, and calm. That exquisite poise of character which we call serenity is the last lesson culture; it is the flowering of life, the fruitage of the soul. It is precious as wisdom, more to be desired than gold – yea, than even fine gold. How insignificant mere money-seeking looks in comparison with a serene life – a life that dwells in the ocean of Truth, beneath the waves, beyond the reach of tempests, in the Eternal Calm!

“How many people we know who sour their lives, who ruin all that is sweet and beautiful by explosive tempers, who destroy their poise of character, and make bad blood! It is a question whether the great majority of people do not ruin their lives and mar their happiness by lack of self-control. How few people we meet in life who are well-balanced, who have that exquisite poise which is characteristic of the finished character!”

Yes, humanity surges with uncontrolled passion, is tumultuous with ungoverned grief, is blown about by anxiety and doubt. Only the wise man, only he whose thoughts are controlled and purified, makes the winds and the storms of the soul obey him.

Tempest-tossed souls, wherever ye may be, under whatsoever conditions ye may live, know this – in the ocean of life the isles of Blessedness are smiling, and sunny shore of your ideal awaits your coming. Keep your hand firmly upon the helm of thought. In the bark of your soul reclines the commanding Master; He does but sleep; wake Him. Self-control is strength; Right Thought is mastery; Calmness is power.

Say unto your heart, “Peace, be still!”

As a Man Thinketh – 06: Visions and Ideals

The dreamers are the saviors of the world. As the visible world is sustained by the invisible, so men, through all their trials and sins and sordid vocations, are nourished by the beautiful visions of their solitary dreamers. Humanity cannot forget its dreamers. It cannot let their ideals fade and die. It lives in them. It knows them in the realities which it shall one day see and know.

Composer, sculptor, painter, poet, prophet, sage, these are the makers of the afterworld, the architects of heaven. The world is beautiful because they have lived; without them, laboring humanity would perish.

He who cherishes a beautiful vision, a lofty ideal in his heart, will one day realize it. Columbus cherished a vision of another world, and he discovered it. Copernicus fostered the vision of a multiplicity of worlds and a wider universe, and he revealed it. Buddha beheld the vision of a spiritual world of stainless beauty and perfect peace, and he entered into it.

Cherish your visions. Cherish your ideals. Cherish the music that stirs in your heart, the beauty that forms in your mind, the loveliness that drapes your purest thoughts, for out of them will grow all delightful conditions, all heavenly environment; of these, if you but remain true to them, your world will at last be built.

To desire is to obtain; to aspire is to achieve. Shall man’s basest desires receive the fullest measure of gratification, and his purest aspirations starve for lack of sustenance? Such is not the Law. Such a condition of things can never obtain – “Ask and receive.”

Dream lofty dreams, and as you dream, so shall you become. Your Vision is the promise of what you shall one day be. Your Ideal is the prophecy of what you shall at last unveil.

The greatest achievement was at first and for a time a dream. The oak sleeps in the acorn; the bird waits in the egg; and in the highest vision of the soul a waking angel stirs. Dreams are the seedlings of realities.

Your circumstances may be uncongenial, but they shall not long remain so if you but perceive an Ideal and strive to reach it. You cannot travel within and stand still without. Here is a youth hard pressed by poverty and labor; confined long hours in an unhealthy workshop; unschooled, and lacking all the arts of refinement. But he dreams of better things. He thinks of intelligence, of refinement, of grace and beauty. He conceives of, mentally builds up, an ideal condition of life. The vision of the wider liberty and a larger scope takes possession of him; unrest urges him to action, and he utilizes all his spare time and means, small though they are, to the development of his latent powers and resources.

Very soon so altered has his mind become that the workshop can no longer hold him. It has become so out of harmony with his mentality that it falls out of his life as a garment is cast aside, and with the growth of opportunities which fit the scope of his expanding powers, he passes out of it forever.

Years later we see this youth as a full-grown man. We find him a master of certain forces of the mind which he wields with world-wide influence and almost unequaled power. In his hands he holds the cords of gigantic responsibilities. He speaks, and lo! lives are changed. Men and women hang upon his words and remold their characters, and, sunlike, he becomes the fixed and luminous center around which innumerable destinies revolve. He has realized the Vision of his youth. He has become one with his Ideal.

And you, too, youthful reader, will realize the Vision (not the idle wish) of your heart, be it base or beautiful, or a mixture of both, for you will always gravitate toward that which you secretly most love. Into your hands will be placed the exact results of your own thoughts; you will receive that which you earn, no more, no less. Whatever your present environment may be, you will fall, remain, or rise with your thoughts, your Vision, your Ideal. You will become as small as your controlling desire; as great as your dominant aspiration.

In the beautiful words of Stanton Kirkham Dave, “You may be keeping accounts, and presently you shall walk out of the door that for so long has seemed to you the barrier of your ideals, and shall find yourself before an audience – the pen still behind your ear, the ink stains on your fingers – and then and there shall pour out the torrent of your inspiration. You may be driving sheep, and you shall wander to the city – bucolic and open mouthed; shall wander under the intrepid guidance of the spirit into the studio of the master, and after a time he shall say, ‘I have nothing more to teach you.’ And now you have become the master, who did so recently dream of great things while driving sheep. You shall lay down the saw and the plane to take upon yourself the regeneration of the world.”

The thoughtless, the ignorant, and the indolent, seeing only the apparent effects of things and not the things themselves, talk of luck, of fortune, and chance. See a man grow rich, they say, “How lucky he is!” Observing another become intellectual, they exclaim, “How highly favored he is!” And noting the saintly character and wide influence of another, the remark, “How chance aids him at every turn!”

They do not see the trials and failures and struggles which these men have voluntarily encountered in order to gain their experience. They have no knowledge of the sacrifices they have made, of the undaunted efforts they have put forth, of the faith they have exercised, that they might overcome the apparently insurmountable, and realize the Vision of their heart. They do not know the darkness and the heartaches; they only see the light and joy, and call it “luck”; do not see the long and arduous journey, but only behold the pleasant goal, and call it “good fortune”; do not understand the process, but only perceive the result, and call it “chance.”

In all human affairs there are efforts, and there are results, and the strength of the effort is the measure of the result. Chance is not. “Gifts,” powers, material, intellectual, and spiritual possessions are the fruits of effort. They are thoughts completed, objects accomplished, visions realized.

The vision that you glorify in your mind, the Ideal that you enthrone in your heart – this you will build your life by, this you will become.
